<p>One of the first things I ask when starting with a new client is, &#8220;Do you have a Google Local listing?&#8221;<br />
 Unfortunately, few of my clients answer, &#8220;yes&#8221;.  Most say, &#8220;What the heck is Google Local?&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>No matter what business your&#8217;re in, you can take advantage of Google Local.</strong></p>
<h2>Why Google local?</h2>
<p>Nearly 65% percent of internet searches done today are through Google.</p>
<p>Who would want to ignore something that could potentially provide 65% of your business.  Simply put, having a presence on Google will result in business.</p>
<h2>What is Google Local?</h2>
<p>Google Local (or Google Local Business center) is a free services offered by Google that allows you to set up a profile for your business that can be found on Google maps and in Google search.</p>

<h2>How do I sign up for Google Local?</h2>
<p>The very first step is to set up a Google account and then go to Google Local Business Center and fill out your profile.  You&#8217;ll also find a number of useful videos on <a href="http://www.youtube.com/" target="_blank">YouTube </a>to help you optimize your profile.  Here is a video with some good suggestions from John Jantsch of <a href="http://www.ducttapemarketing.com/" target="_blank">Duct Tape Marketing</a>:</p>

<p>We still have some work to do on the site and we’ll be posting:</p>
<p><strong><span class="zem_slink">Business</span> Promotion Strategies</strong> – we’ve had so many individuals and companies approach us to help them with internet <span class="zem_slink">marketing</span> and promotion that we are redirecting our training services to focus on this area.</p>
<p><strong><span class="zem_slink">Event drive</span><span class="zem_slink">n</span> marketing strategies</strong> – from our experience, one of the most effective, low cost and engaging approaches to building your business is offering events then promoting them with low cost web, e-mail, voice and video. For businesses, offering tangible products, events are conducted at physical locations where customers can see and feel the products.   Events for intangible products and services are conducted by webinar and distributing valuable information products.</p>
<p><strong>Traditional media</strong> – we still support existing traditional promotional methods such as direct mail and will be offering ideas to blend the traditional with new media at much lower cost.</p>
<p><strong>Traditional training</strong> – we’ll still be offering training and consulting in the areas of sales and management, but we’ll be blending traditional approaches with new technology to offer more flexibility and options for building skills in these areas.</p>
