There are no mistakes…only learnings

I’ve been a LinkedIn user and fan for many years. In my opinion, LinkedIn is the premier personal marketing platform that focuses on the business world.
In a recent group digest, I noticed a discussion post where a LinkedIn member posted a lengthy endorsement of herself. I was a bit surprised to see this because not only are the rules clear about advertising (spamming), why would a savvy business woman be so obvious about her self promotion? It doesn’t build credibility.
I realized…this is a misstep, a mistake, a goof perhaps.
Although another group member had already posted a negative comment about the advertising, I thought this might be an opportunity to share some resources that could be helpful. So I posted:
For some effective strategies using LinkedIn for Marketing, please check out Sean Nelson’s materials including his blog, http://socialmediasonar.com/ and several of books he has written especially “LinkedIn Marketing Secret Formula.”
No, I’m not affiliate with Sean, just like his sensible approach to marketing.
The intent behind LinkedIn is to be helpful. If someone were to trip while walking in front of me, I would help them up. I’ve made some missteps in business (and still do), I appreciate when someone gives me a hand.
